Discover Unique Verified™ Terms
These terms explain how Discover Unique Verified™ works — what checks are carried out, what providers are responsible for, how renewal works, and the honest limits of verification. We have written them in plain English so that families, carers, professionals and providers can all understand what the Verified™ badge means and what it does not.
Connecting People. Supporting Futures.
1. Introduction
Discover Unique Verified™ is a trust framework. It helps providers show that certain checks have been completed at the time of review, and it helps families, carers, professionals and individuals feel more confident when choosing support.
These Verified™ Terms sit alongside our Terms & Conditions and Provider Terms. They do not replace them. By taking part in Discover Unique Verified™, a provider confirms that they have read, understood and agree to these terms and that the evidence they share is genuine, current and relevant to the services they offer.
Our goal is to explain verification clearly and honestly — so that the Verified™ badge builds genuine trust, not false confidence.
2. What Discover Unique Verified™ Is
Discover Unique Verified™ is a trust framework that confirms certain checks were completed at a specific point in time. It is designed to help families make informed decisions and to give providers a transparent way to demonstrate that relevant checks have been carried out.
Through Discover Unique Verified™, we may review evidence such as:
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificates.
- Public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
- Professional registrations and memberships.
- Safeguarding policies and practices relevant to the service offered.
- Other evidence relevant to the service being verified.
Where a provider takes part, the Verified™ badge signals that these checks were carried out. Verification reflects checks completed at a specific point in time — it is a trust signal, not a permanent statement about a provider.
Discover Unique Verified™ membership is paid for in advance, either monthly or yearly, and the price is always shown before payment is taken. Payment starts the verification process — it does not grant the Verified™ badge. Only our review team can award Verified™, after checking the evidence provided.
Membership renews automatically at the end of each paid period until it is cancelled. A provider can cancel or change their card at any time from their dashboard. If a renewal payment fails, we keep trying for a short period and let the provider know; if payment is not received, the Verified™ badge is removed and the listing returns to a free listing. The listing itself is never deleted.
Refunds and cancellation. Our position is set out in full below.
- If we review your evidence and cannot approve your Verified™ membership, we refund your payment in full, cancel the membership and leave your free listing exactly as it is.
- If you change your mind before we have started reviewing your evidence, tell us and we will refund your payment in full.
- Once we have started reviewing your evidence, the work has been done, so payment for that period is not refundable.
- Once Verified™ status has been granted, payment for that period is not refundable.
- Cancelling stops all future renewals. Your Verified™ badge and member benefits stay active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
3. What Discover Unique Verified™ Is Not
It is important to be honest about what the Verified™ badge does not mean. Transparency protects families and providers alike.
- Verification is not a guarantee of service quality. The badge confirms that specified checks were completed — it does not promise that a service will meet every family's needs.
- Verification is not an endorsement or recommendation. Discover Unique does not recommend one verified provider over another, and the badge is not a ranking or rating.
- Verification reflects a point in time. Checks are completed when evidence is reviewed. Circumstances can change, and the badge does not mean checks are continuously monitored in real time.
- Verification does not cover every possible risk. It addresses the specific evidence reviewed and nothing further.
Families should always use their own judgement, ask questions, and carry out any additional checks they feel are important before choosing support.
4. Verification Requirements
To take part in Discover Unique Verified™, a provider must be listed on Discover Unique and agree to these Verified™ Terms. The checks we carry out depend on the type of service offered — not every provider will be asked for the same evidence.
For example, a tutor working directly with children may be asked for a DBS certificate and safeguarding policy, while an online resource provider may be asked for different evidence relevant to their service. We will always be transparent about what is being reviewed and why.
Providers must be at least 18 years old to take part in verification. If verification is sought on behalf of an organisation, the person applying must be authorised to do so.
5. Verification Evidence
Verification is based on evidence that a provider chooses to share with us. Depending on the service, this may include:
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificates.
- Public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
- Professional registrations and memberships.
- Safeguarding information and policies.
- Other evidence relevant to the service being verified.
Evidence must be genuine, current and clearly linked to the provider and the services they offer. We may ask for additional clarification or supporting documents where something is unclear or incomplete.
Verification documents are not published or shared publicly. They are used only to assess whether the Verified™ badge can be awarded, and they are handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
6. Provider Responsibilities
Providers who take part in Discover Unique Verified™ are responsible for keeping their verification evidence accurate and up to date. This means:
- Maintaining relevant DBS checks, insurance, registrations and certifications.
- Letting Discover Unique know promptly if evidence expires, changes or is withdrawn.
- Ensuring the services described on the platform match the services for which verification was granted.
- Keeping public listing information accurate and current.
- Acting professionally, safely and in line with all relevant laws and safeguarding requirements.
A provider remains solely responsible for the services they provide. Discover Unique Verified™ is a trust signal based on checks at a point in time — it does not shift responsibility for the delivery, quality or outcome of services onto Discover Unique.
7. Ongoing Verification Obligations
Verification reflects checks completed at a specific point in time. Because of that, Discover Unique may review Verified™ status periodically and may request updated evidence at any time — for example when documents expire, when a provider's services change, or as part of routine programme reviews.
Providers should respond to requests for updated evidence within a reasonable timeframe. If evidence cannot be provided or confirmed, we may pause or remove the Verified™ badge while the situation is resolved.
Verification documents are never published. They are reviewed by Discover Unique for the limited purpose of assessing and maintaining Verified™ status.
8. Suspension Or Removal Of Verified™ Status
Discover Unique may suspend or remove the Verified™ badge where:
- Evidence expires, becomes invalid or can no longer be confirmed.
- A provider no longer meets safeguarding, legal or professional requirements.
- A provider does not respond to reasonable requests for updated evidence.
- A provider has breached these Verified™ Terms, our Provider Terms or our Terms & Conditions.
- A listing is found to be misleading, inaccurate or harmful.
We will try to act fairly and, where appropriate, give a provider a reasonable opportunity to respond or provide updated evidence before Verified™ status is removed. In urgent or safeguarding situations, we may act first to protect users.
Suspension or removal of the Verified™ badge does not necessarily mean a provider's listing is removed from Discover Unique — but a provider may also be suspended or removed from the platform entirely in line with our Provider Terms.
9. Liability And Disclaimer
Discover Unique Verified™ is a trust framework that confirms specified checks were completed at the time of review. It is not a guarantee of service quality, and it is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee of any provider or service.
Discover Unique is not responsible for the delivery, quality or outcome of services provided by third parties. Families, carers, professionals and individuals remain responsible for their own decisions about support and for any additional checks they wish to carry out.
To the extent permitted by law, Discover Unique excludes liability for any loss, damage or harm arising from reliance on Verified™ status or from the use of a service listed on the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
10. Changes To Verified™ Requirements
We may update the Discover Unique Verified™ programme and these terms from time to time — for example to reflect changes in safeguarding expectations, legal requirements or feedback from the community.
When we make meaningful changes, we will make the updated terms available on this page and let verified providers know. Continuing to take part in Discover Unique Verified™ after changes take effect means a provider accepts the updated terms. If a provider does not agree with a change, they can contact us or stop taking part in the programme.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
